NEW! Changes In BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals’ Reservation Times Means The Potential To Enjoy Longer Kayaking Time

PHOTO BY "beachnriver" --- The temperature of the air is cooler under the tree shaded canopy. Because the water at the launch site is Artesian spring-fed and a cold 68 degrees, several kayaking guests say this portion of the kayak float is a favorite. You will only find this shaded, cold-water experience at BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals in Foley, --- just minutes North by car of the Gulf Shores, Alabama beaches.

BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals will operate differently this season. Instead of offering 3-4 hour rentals for $35,  we will accept reservations for hourly launch times from 8 a.m. until noon with the opportunity to kayak from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Reservations will be made for hourly launch times beginning with 8 a.m. and ending at noon. All kayakers must return their kayaks to the launch site by 3 p.m.

Here are examples of possible scenarios:

a) If you reserve for an 8 a.m. launch you may kayak/fish seven hours until close at 3 p.m. for $35

b) If you reserve for a noon launch you must return prior to 3 p.m. for a rate of $35.

Same day launches will be accepted by RESERVATION BASIS ONLY if reservation is confirmed at least 2 hours prior to the requested launch time.

WHAT’S EXCITING ABOUT THESE CHANGES? (and what do the changes mean for you?)

You have an opportunity to enjoy 6-7 hours kayaking/fishing on the water if you launch by 8 a.m. and return by 3 p.m. making kayaking with BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals one of the least expensive amusement options in the Foley/Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area.

There will be no need to scour online discount services, clip coupons or “check in” to receive discounts. It is easy to see the value:  the earlier you make reservations to begin your float,  the more time you will have allotted kayaking and enjoying the river.

Please keep in mind ALL RULES of behavior and protocol still apply.

Please peruse the website for Float Rules, Accident/Liability Waivers and “Suggested Items To Bring.” Feel free to print and complete forms to arrive at the launch site to facilitate the registration process.

Remember: each adult kayaker must have a driver’s license available to present upon arrival.

Please also watch the various videos as they are posted to give an idea as to what you may see along the way.

We feel the more you are informed the better experience you will have.

Remember BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals does not allow:

ALCOHOL
SMOKING
LOUD MUSIC
PRIVATE BOATS

NO EXCEPTIONS.

We look forward to seeing you and getting you on the water!

Why Does BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals Insist On Reservations To Kayak At Their Location Off The Beach?

We are often asked why we don’t accept “walk ups” or “drive-up’s” to our property.

Since we have several reasons I’ll post as a list:

1) With most “walkups/driveups” kayaking is a “spur of moment” decision. Guests are not prepared for the elements and are often without food, water, sunscreen, hats.

2) They do not know our particular rules. (Such as NO ALCOHOL, no cussin,’ no misbehavin,’ no litterin’ and no loitterin’ )

3) They may not have cash. (We do not accept credit cards or personal checks).

4) Their expectations are to pay by-the-hour and ask for discounts for shorter hours, refunds due to rain predictions etc.

From our personal experiences the net result when we “compromise” is :

  • Guests are miserable, they get sunburned, they get over heated and their clothes are dirtied. They often come back early due to storm threats (or overextend their time). They may have to walk their boats back to the launch due to low tide levels or extreme drought. They are often more exhausted. More often than not, they do not offer to write reviews.

So to Summarize: WE VALUE OUR GUEST EXPERIENCE TOO MUCH TO ALLOW “WALK-UPS OR DRIVE-UPS” AND OPERATE ON THE RESERVATION BASIS ONLY.

We want you to have a 5-star experience — hence we  recommended advance knowledge of the float and of operations before making reservations. This way the float will match your expectations and you are more likely to have a wonderful experience.

BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals Announces Changes Of Days And Hours of Operation

BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals Creek Stays Cold Year-Round

BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals Creek Stays Cold Year-Round

Hello all!

BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals hopes you had a “Beachin’” Good Summer while visiting the Alabama Gulf Coast!

We enjoyed  making new friends and re-visiting with old friends. We hope you will consider BeachnRiver Kayak Rentals a pal on Facebook, Twitter and follow our blog and posts until we meet again.

As summer comes to an end and we reflect on our “hits and misses,” we realize although it is difficult to convince guests to wake up early to paddle — early morning paddles means guests return happy, smiling and ready to EAT!

Another plus to early morning launches? Despite the unusual drought, we typically had enough water in the creek to launch without necessitating expedition-style launches.

As the sun now begins to settle in the West, our creek levels change drastically. Tides are earlier in the a.m. and leave us with barely a trickle of water past noon.

We’d like to continue to put guests in the river to paddle but our ability to offer autumn/winter launches will depend on you, our guest, and your willingness to tolerate a walk through cold water and sand for 100 yards to launch or return to the launch site after a paddle. Suggested Items to Bring may need to also include “Suggested Items To Wear” once we get your feedback.

Please know that we consider expedition launches less than ideal but with the right attitude you can consider this just another extension of the “Huck Finn” experience we love to share!

  • We will put guests on the river to kayak  SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS and MONDAYS — and on a reservation basis only with 24 hours advance notice. Keep in mind we cannot post set hours because times will change according to water levels and temps.  ***Beginning Saturday, Aug. 20 we will launch all guests at 8 a.m. until further notice.
  • We will honor any reservations we have already made.

Please respect our privacy during closed hours and do not trespass.

  • If you would like a “showing” of the property and launch situation we ask that you phone at least 24 hrs in advance and request a reservation during our open days and hours of operation.
  • If the gate to our property says “CLOSED” and you enter without express reservation/permission we will consider it trespassing. We hate to be so specific but unfortunately there are always those who think they are “exempt.”
  • Be aware cameras are in use throughout the property and on the adjacent street. A diligent neighborhood “watch” will report all trespassers to authorities.

We want to continue to operate a nice, “clean” business — one in which we can offer a unique adventure to our guests, yet  be good neighbors to our neighbors.  If you were our neighbor you’d want the same courtesies.

Thank you for choosing to support this little “mom and pop” business with your hard-earned dollars. We value you and hope to continue to offer and warrant 5-star reviews and recommendations.

Happy Trails —  and may the Beach and River keep a dear place in your memories!
